Modi Begins Israel Visit Amid Strategic Talks

Date: Feb 25, 2026 | Source: Fela News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a two day official visit to Israel, marking another important chapter in the strategic relationship between the two countries. This visit follows his historic trip in 2017 and comes at a time when cooperation between India and Israel continues to deepen across multiple sectors.

During his stay, Modi is scheduled to hold high level talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior leaders. Discussions are expected to focus on defence collaboration, advanced technology partnerships, agriculture innovation, water management and trade expansion. A significant highlight of the visit will be his address to the Israeli parliament, symbolising the strength of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

India and Israel established diplomatic relations in 1992, and since then their partnership has grown steadily. Over the years, Israel has emerged as one of India’s key defence partners, supplying advanced systems including missile technology, surveillance equipment and air defence solutions. Defence cooperation has become a central pillar of the bilateral relationship.

Reports suggest that talks during this visit may include discussions on co development of defence technologies and possible agreements involving military equipment. One project that has drawn attention involves converting passenger aircraft into military tanker jets to strengthen India’s aerial refuelling capabilities.

Apart from defence, economic cooperation is also expected to be high on the agenda. Both countries are exploring opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, innovation, science and start up ecosystems. Trade relations have expanded significantly over the years, and leaders are likely to discuss ways to further boost investment and technology exchange.

The visit comes at a time of evolving geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East. Strengthening ties with Israel reflects India’s broader strategy of building diverse global partnerships while maintaining balanced diplomacy in the region.

The two day trip is expected to conclude with joint statements and possible agreements aimed at expanding collaboration in defence, technology and trade. For India, the visit represents both continuity in foreign policy and an opportunity to reinforce a key strategic partnership for the future.
