A tragic incident in Hamilton, Ontario, claimed the life of a 21-year-old international student from India, Harsimrat, who was struck by a stray bullet during a gang-related shooting. The victim, a Mohawk College student, was waiting at a bus stop on her way to work when she was hit. Police believe she was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. The shooting occurred around 7:30 pm on Thursday when a passenger from a black Mercedes SUV fired at a white sedan. The sedan fled the scene shortly after. Bullets also hit the rear window of a nearby home, but fortunately, no one inside was injured.

The Indian Consulate in Toronto expressed its sorrow and assured support for the family, while Hamilton Police Chief Frank Bergen extended condolences, emphasizing the senselessness of the violence. Mohawk College also offered condolences, pledging support for Harsimrat’s friends, family, and the college community. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
