Congress MP Shashi Tharoor stated that following the Pahalgam attacks, a new standard will be set where no one in Pakistan can believe they can cross the border and kill Indian citizens without consequences. He emphasized that there will be a “price to pay” for such actions. Leading a delegation of Indian parliamentarians to Guyana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and the US, Tharoor is conveying India’s firm stance against terrorism and highlighting Pakistan’s links to terrorist activities.

The delegation aims to clarify that the recent conflict with Pakistan was triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack, not by India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation.

Speaking at an event in New York with the Indian-American community and media, Tharoor said India’s message to Pakistan is clear: India did not want to start conflict but responded firmly to terrorism. The “88-hour war” was frustrating but underscored India’s determination to protect its citizens. Tharoor asserted that terrorism from Pakistan will no longer be tolerated and India’s retaliation will be precise and measured.

He highlighted India’s focus on economic growth, technology, and lifting millions out of poverty, contrasting with Pakistan’s support for terrorism. Tharoor also referenced past attacks like Mumbai 26/11, Uri, and Pulwama, stressing India’s resolve to defend itself and promote peace. The delegation includes members from multiple parties and former diplomats and will continue its diplomatic outreach until June 3.
