Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Andhra Pradesh took on both spiritual and developmental importance. On October 16, he began his day by wearing a traditional veshti and offering prayers at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam temple in Srisailam, a sacred place known as both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth. Along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Modi’s humble act of devotion sent a message of his connect with the cultural roots of the region.

After finishing his prayers, the Prime Minister went to the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra in Srisailam, a memorial built to honor the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji. The complex have models of historic forts and also a meditation hall for visitors. From there, he moved to Kurnool, where he was going to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for many development projects worth around Rs 13,430 crore.

The projects covering many sectors power transmission (like the expansion of Kurnool-III Pooling Station), industrial infrastructure (Orvakal in Kurnool and Kopparthy in Kadapa), highways and roads upgradation, railway bridges, defence production, and energy infrastructure such as the Srikakulam-Angul gas pipeline and the new LPG bottling plant in Chittoor. The goal is big to increase investment, create more local jobs, and make connectivity stronger across Rayalaseema and nearby areas.

During his address to the public gathering, Modi also took part in the “Super GST Super Savings” campaign in Kurnool. He talked about how the new GST system will benefit ordinary citizens and help make business easier. Local officials had made big arrangements and logistic supports for the event, expecting a huge crowd to come and see these new initiatives.

By mixing pilgrimage with policy, Modi tried to show that progress and tradition can go together. His visit was not only about inaugurations but also about connecting emotionally with the people and culture of Andhra. For the state, the message was loud Andhra Pradesh is ready to grow, both economically and spiritually, building a future that stays proud of its roots while moving toward development.
