Pallavi, wife of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash, confesses to his murder, citing property conflicts and domestic violence. Police probe includes mental health
The murder investigation of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash has revealed multiple motives, including a long-standing property dispute and allegations of domestic violence. His wife, Pallavi, who has confessed to the crime, remains under police scrutiny.
Officials say the couple frequently fought, often over property disagreements. Prakash owned several acres of land in Uttara Kannada and a farmhouse in Joida, but reportedly refused to transfer any assets to Pallavi or their daughter. Months ago, Pallavi allegedly approached HSR Layout police to file a complaint but, feeling ignored, staged a sit-in protest outside the station.
Police are also examining Pallavi’s mental health, as she is believed to have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was under treatment. She has claimed repeated instances of domestic abuse, saying she acted out of desperation.
On the day of the crime, Pallavi allegedly threw chilli powder in Prakash’s face before fatally stabbing him multiple times. She also sent a message to an IPS officers' WhatsApp group prior to the murder, pleading for help and alleging domestic violence. Their daughter Kriti, initially questioned, has since been released.
