US Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha Vance and their children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—kicked off his first official visit to India with a tour of the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in New Delhi. Embracing Indian tradition, the children dressed in ethnic attire: the boys in kurta-pyjamas and Mirabel in an anarkali. The family admired the temple’s architecture and spiritual ambiance, appreciating its focus on harmony, family values, and ancient wisdom. In the temple guest book, Vance wrote, “Thank you for your hospitality… Our kids especially loved it. God bless.”

According to temple spokesperson Radhika Shukla, the family spent nearly an hour exploring the site, visiting the Charanarvind, Bharat Upvan, Gajendra Peeth, and the sanctum sanctorum, where they prayed for world peace.

Vance arrived in Delhi on April 21 for a four-day visit covering Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, aimed at strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. He was warmly welcomed at Palam Airport by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and given a ceremonial Guard of Honour. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized the visit's significance in bolstering bilateral ties.
