First list reveals heavyweight faces as BJP charts its strategy ahead of Bihar assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a big step in its Bihar election campaign by releasing names of 71 first candidates for the 2025 Assembly polls. Among the most talked names is Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who will contest from Tarapur, showing the party’s confidence in him and its strong push in the region.

Joining Chaudhary are many big faces who sure to pull crowd’s attention. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha will contest from Lakhisarai, while Nitin Nabin, a state minister, will fight from Bankipur. Renu Devi gets the ticket from Bettiah. The list also have senior leader Ram Kripal Yadav (Danapur), Prem Kumar (Gaya), and former deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad (Katihar).

The selection shows both continuity and change. Nitish Mishra is seeking re-election from Jhanjharpur, while Shreyasi Singh entering the fight from Jamui. Interestingly, Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav name is missing from the list; for Patna Sahib, he is replaced by Ratnesh Kushwaha, which came as a surprise for many party workers.

This announcement comes just after NDA finalized its seat-sharing deal BJP and JDU will contest 101 seats each, while LJP (Ram Vilas) gets 29, Rashtriya Lok Morcha 6, and HAM (Secular) also 6 seats. The polling will happen in two phases on November 6 and 11, while counting of votes will be on November 14.

By bringing experienced leaders and giving chance to some new faces, BJP trying to make a perfect mix of experience and fresh appeal. Still, the question stand will this first list give enough energy and ground support for the party to dominate the Bihar battleground? The state has always been a place of unpredictable politics, and all eyes now on how voters react to this first move from BJP.
