Army action against a TMC stage triggers a political firestorm, with Mamata Banerjee accusing the BJP of foul play.
A political controversy arose after the Army removed a platform from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the ground area of Kolkata. The army cited the reason for this action a violation of its permit rules, which allowed a two -day program, but the stage was standing for about a month.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee immediately reacted to this action, who accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the army for political vengeance.
Banerjee, in his statement, urged the army to remain a neutral and non-political institution, which is free from political influence. TMC also supported his views and condemned the incident, calling it a political target. He compared it by the Central Government with the alleged misuse of agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). TMC has announced its intention to take the protest to a new place, indicating that the issue is not over yet. The incident highlights the ongoing tension between the ruling party and the central government of the state, in which both sides are accusing them of political tricks and excesses.
