Virginia Giuffre, known for her allegations of sexual abuse against Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew, has reportedly died by suicide at her home in Western Australia.

Who was Virginia Giuffre?
Virginia Giuffre was an American-born advocate for survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking. She played a pivotal role in exposing the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew. In 2015, she founded Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR), previously known as Victims Refuse Silence, to combat sex trafficking. Giuffre is survived by her three children — Christian, Noah, and Emily — as reported by The Guardian.

How did her death occur?
Giuffre, aged 41, died by suicide on Friday. According to AFP, which cited a statement from her family, "It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia." The statement further mentioned, "She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking," and highlighted that "the burden of her trauma eventually became too much for her to bear." Her death follows a recent hospitalization after a car accident.

What was Virginia Giuffre known for?
Virginia Giuffre accused Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell of grooming and sexually abusing her when she was a teenager, according to The Guardian. She said Maxwell recruited her in 2000 while she was working as a spa attendant at Mar-a-Lago. Giuffre also accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was 17, an allegation he has denied. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges related to underage trafficking.
