Top Ukrainian official Andriy Yermak says the White House is preparing firm measures against Russia, including oil sanctions and tariffs, following President Ze
Ukraine has received encouraging indications from the White House suggesting forthcoming pressure on Russia, according to a senior Ukrainian official. Following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent discussions with the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, and Italy, top presidential aide Andriy Yermak stated that the country’s international partners had acknowledged these “positive signals” from the U.S.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Yermak said the anticipated measures involve tough actions against Russia, especially in the form of enhanced sanctions on Russian oil and secondary tariffs. These steps are expected to come into effect after the expiration of the 10-day deadline imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Yermak also mentioned ongoing dialogue concerning a landmark bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and the United States. The proposed deal is described as “historic” and is reportedly receiving financial backing from European allies. This development reflects growing coordination between Ukraine and its Western supporters amid ongoing tensions with Russia.
The discussions come at a time when Kyiv is pushing for greater international commitment in deterring Russian aggression and reinforcing Ukraine’s long-term security through formal agreements and economic pressure on Moscow. The momentum behind these actions is seen as a significant diplomatic boost for Ukraine’s position in the war.
