The U.S. proposes a ceasefire in Gaza involving hostage-prisoner exchanges, humanitarian aid, and mediation support from Egypt and Qatar.
In a vital diplomatic move, the United States has called for a 60 days ceasefire to bring an end to the ongoing war in Gaza. The proposed plan outlines a significant step toward peace, where both sides Israel and Hamas would take coordinated actions in the first week of the truce.
If agreed upon, Hamas would release 28 Israeli hostages. In return, Israel would free 125 Palestinian prisoners who are currently serving life sentences. Additionally, Israel will exchange the bodies of 180 deceased Palestinians. The agreement secures the transporting of basic aid which includes food and medical stocks into Gaza, helping to address the poor humanitarian crisis.
The plan has gained boost from U.S. President Donald Trump, with Egypt and Qatar playing crucial roles as mediators in the negotiation process. All eyes are now on both parties, as the world hopes this proposed ceasefire could be a turning point in the conflict.
