Alleged U.S. airstrikes plummeted rebel control areas of Yemen on Wednesday, with the  Houthis claiming that the attack killed 6 people across the country.

Satellite images from Wednesday, analyzed by The Associated Press, reveal an unusual deployment of at least six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, amid ongoing military operations in Yemen and rising tensions with Iran.

Under U.S. President Donald Trump, an intensive airstrike campaign against the Yemeni rebels—retaliating for their attacks on shipping in the Middle East linked to the Israel-Hamas war—has resulted in at least 67 casualties, according to figures provided by the Houthis.

The campaign showed no signs of de-escalation as the Trump administration again linked the airstrikes on the Houthis to Iran’s increasingly advancing nuclear program. While giving no specifics about the airstrikes or its targets, the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, put the overall number of strikes on Tuesday at more than 200.

“Iran is incredibly weakened as a result of these attacks, and we have seen they have taken out Houthi leaders,” Leavitt said. “They’ve taken out critical members who were launching strikes on naval ships and commercial vessels and this operation will not stop until the freedom of navigation in this region is restored.”

However, no acknowledgment regarding the removal of the Houthi officials has come into play so far by the rebel group.
