A White House official says Trump is undeterred by negative press ahead of his ‘Liberation Day’ tariff announcement, insisting he’s simply delivering on campaig

US President Donald Trump has taken it upon himself to change the direction and focus of global trade and champion protectionism policies towards the States, a step taken in accordance with the announcement of the reciprocal tariffs made on 2 April.

The tariffs have sent shockwaves through the entire world, the stock markets are plummeting, companies and consumers are both at a risk of increased prices alike and experts and analysts are expecting a potential recession worse than the 2008 crisis.

The US President, however, appears resolute in the face of mounting criticism, maintaining the same firm stance he reportedly adopted when implementing the tough tariff measures.

A White House official told the Washington Post that Mr. Trump has reached, “the peak of just not giving a f--- anymore”. In an article that details behind the scenes of Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ reciprocal tariffs announcement, the Post quoted a White House official familiar with Trump’s thinking as saying, “Bad news stories? Doesn’t give a f---. He’s going to do what he’s going to do. He’s going to do what he promised to do on the campaign trail.”
