US President Donald Trump has termed the tragic crash of an Air India flight in Ahmedabad as “one of the worst in aviation history.” The London-bound Boeing 787, carrying 242 people, including 53 Britons and 169 Indians, went down minutes after take-off in a residential area, causing widespread devastation. Trump, addressing the media at the White House, said the United States is ready to assist India “in any capacity,” offering immediate help if needed.

“It’s a terrible crash. Anything we can do, we’ll be over there immediately,” Trump said, adding that he has already communicated support to Indian officials. He emphasized India's strength and expressed confidence in their response efforts. Preliminary observations suggest engine failure, although the exact cause remains unknown. Trump mentioned that the aircraft appeared stable before rapidly losing altitude, and added that there may be “a couple of survivors,” though most lives are feared lost.

Meanwhile, Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pledged full cooperation with Indian authorities. A Boeing team is prepared to assist the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) of India as per international aviation protocols. Ortberg confirmed direct communication with Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran, assuring technical and logistical support during the investigation. This disaster marks one of the darkest days in India’s aviation history, and recovery operations are ongoing.
