In recent remark, former U.S. President Donald Trump has urge Europe to impose sanction on China, citing Beijing big purchases of Russian oil. Trump claim that by restricting China’s access to Russian energy, Europe could weaken Russia ability for continue the war against Ukraine. These suggestion came during a interview with Fox News, where he also discuss trade measure his administration enacted, including a 50% tariff on Indian import.

Trump stressed that China remain “the biggest buyer of Russian oil by far” and argue that such trade is directly supporting Russia war economy. He also express disappointment in Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying his hope to broker peace has been dashed. Despite once believing his personal relation with Putin might help mediate the conflict, Trump say, he let me down.

Additionally, the U.S. enacted a steep 50 per cent tariff on India, an action Trump describe as a big step. While the tariff policy toward India and China represent growing economic pressure, it also raise diplomatic and strategy questions, specially given India own geopolitical position.

China responded harsh, rejecting the call for sanction and defending its trade with Russia as necessary. Meanwhile, international observer watching how this mix of sanction, energy dependence, and global trade will effect alliances and the world economy. The suggestion that Europe follow suit with even more steeper sanction remain controversial and hard to implement.

Ultimately, this conflict show how economics and geopolitic are deeply interwoven. Tariff, sanction, and energy trade are not only financial tools they tie with war, diplomacy, and strategy. How India navigate its response, balancing trade interest with international pressure, could having long-lasting impact.
