Trump Nobel Peace hopes fade as controversies diplomacy failures and politics cloud recognition.
This Friday doesn’t seem to be going well for Donald Trump. His name has slipped behind in the race for the Nobel Peace Prize and the reasons appear to lie in international politics, controversies, and his own policies.
For former U.S. President Donald Trump, this Friday may turn out to be the opposite of what he had hoped for. Among the top contenders for the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump’s name has now fallen behind. For someone who once called himself a “messenger of peace,” this setback is being seen as no less than a political defeat.
Trump had expected that some of his foreign policy achievements during his presidency such as the Abraham Accords and talks with North Korea would earn him recognition from the Nobel Committee. However, experts suggest that his aggressive foreign policy, domestic controversies, and polarizing campaign rhetoric have damaged his image.
The Nobel Committee often favors leaders who have taken concrete steps toward peace, dialogue, and stability. During Trump’s tenure, however, the U.S. withdrew from several international organizations, pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, and worsened relations with China and Europe. As a result, his hopes for the prestigious award appear to be fading.
Political analysts believe Trump might use this decision as an election campaign issue, as he has often claimed that “the media and institutions” are biased against him.
Meanwhile, this year’s Nobel Peace Prize race features strong contenders such as human rights activists, climate reformers, and negotiators involved in Ukraine peace talks. In this scenario, Trump’s name is gradually disappearing from the list.
Now, the big question is whether this “bad Friday” will make Trump’s political strategy even more aggressive or push him to attempt a diplomatic comeback to rebuild his global image.
