Russian shelling and airstrikes have claimed five lives near the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, while a drone attack in the northeastern Sumy region left at least six people injured early Monday, June 2, 2025, including two children, according to regional authorities.

Ivan Fedorov reported on Telegram that three women were killed during multiple shelling attacks on the village of Ternuvate, located east of Zaporizhzhia, late Sunday. The assault caused severe damage to a shop and several homes. In a separate incident nearby, a man was killed by a Russian guided aerial bomb, Fedorov added. In total, nine people were wounded in the attacks, and one private home was completely destroyed.

In the Sumy region, a Russian drone strike injured two children, among them a 7-year-old boy, Governor Oleh Sinehubov confirmed via Telegram on Monday. He noted that several buildings across the area had also sustained damage.

These assaults occur just as Russia and Ukraine prepare for another round of peace negotiations, aiming to resolve the conflict that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion over three years ago.
