In a strong and unified note, the foreign ministers of the Quad countries India, the United States, Japan, and Australia have censured the recent Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 26 innocent civilians, including a citizen from Nepal. The ministers, who look up in Washington, DC, expressed deep condolences to the families affected by this senseless act of violence.
Labeling the attack as a “reprehensible act,” the Quad ministers emphasized that the perpetrators, organizers, and financiers behind this act of terror must be brought to justice. He insisted that there should be no safe place in the world for those who carry out such attacks, plan or give financial assistance to them. His joint statement showed the shared understanding that there is no limit to terrorism, and it can really be eliminated only through global cooperation.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar voiced India’s firm stance, saying that the country has both the right and responsibility to defend itself. He further urged fellow Quad nations to support India’s call for justice, not just in words, but through maintaining action under international law.
The ministers reiterated the importance of holding all those involved accountable, regardless of where they are. They called on all UN member states to actively support efforts in countering terrorism and upholding peace.
