A 21-year-old Indian student from Ottawa, Canada, who had been missing for two days, was found dead, the Indian Embassy in Canada confirmed on Tuesday. Vanshika had disappeared on April 25, sparking a massive search operation.
The Indian Embassy expressed deep sadness at her death, noting that the local authorities are investigating the cause. According to a Facebook post seeking information, Vanshika had left her residence around 8-9 PM on April 25 to visit a rental room and was last heard from when her phone was switched off around 11:40 PM that night. She missed an important exam the following day, which was highly unusual for her. Despite efforts from her family and friends, there was no information on her whereabouts.
The Indian Embassy confirmed the tragic news of her death on Tuesday, stating that the authorities are looking into the matter.
