Kim Jong Un oversees tactical drills and tests new sniper rifles for North Korea's special forces, as claims emerge of Pyongyang deploying troops to aid Russia
“ North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday( April 4, 2025) visited the military training base of the special operation units of the Korean People’s Army, ” the state media reported on Saturday( April 5, 2025.)
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observed a politic training exercise and small- arms firing contest involving special operations forces, according to state media KCNA. He emphasized that strengthening these elite units is a crucial precedence in the country's current military strategy and outlined several major tasks to enhance their functional capacities, though specifics were n't bared.
Kim also tête-à-tête test- fired a new gun rifle developed domestically and expressed satisfaction with its performance. South Korea has claimed that North Korea has stationed special forces to support Russia in the Ukraine war, suggesting Pyongyang aims to gain battleground experience.
While North Korea and Russia originally denied these claims, Russian President Vladimir Putin stopped suddenly of rejecting them in October 2024. A North Korean functionary also stated that any similar deployment would be legal. Judges believe North Korea could profit from the conflict, though Kyiv reports that these units have suffered significant losses.
