Video alleges GHQ instructed military to salute terrorists killed during India’s Operation Sindoor, sparking controversy.
A video message circulating on social media from Masood Ilyas Kashmiri, a commander of Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM), claims that Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir ordered senior officers to attend funerals of terrorists killed in India’s Operation Sindoor. Kashmiri says that the General Headquarters gave directives to treat these individuals with military honours, including accompanying the janaza procession in uniform and standing guard as a mark of respect.
The video also asserts that Masood Azhar had a role in orchestrating terror strikes in Indian cities such as Delhi and Mumbai, speaking of his rise and operations after escaping from Tihar Jail and moving from locations like Balakot. Kashmiri describes the soil of Balakot as foundational to Azhar’s efforts, using poetic language to suggest deep allegiance. Operation Sindoor was India’s retaliation to a terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir, which killed civilians in April. In India’s stated account, multiple hideouts of terror groups such as JeM, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen were destroyed. Pakistan countered by acknowledging casualties but framed the strikes differently, hinting civilian harm.
The claims, if confirmed, could heighten tensions between India and Pakistan, especially around cross-border terror and narratives of state involvement. As with many such allegations, timing and context may influence how seriously they are received both domestically and internationally.
