Iran fired at least 15 ballistic missiles at Israel on Monday, just a day after the United States launched airstrikes on Iran’s key nuclear sites. According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), multiple missiles were launched directly from Iranian territory, with explosions reported over Jerusalem and air raid sirens sounding across northern and southern Israel, including Ashdod. The attack marks the most intense confrontation yet, as Israel continues its military campaign and now faces direct retaliation from Tehran.

The Iranian missile attack follows U.S. precision strikes that targeted three of Iran’s major nuclear facilitiesFordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. These strikes came in response to growing concerns over Iran’s nuclear capabilities and its alleged involvement in cross-border hostilities. The Times of Israel reported that some of the Iranian missiles made direct impacts on Israeli territory, although the full extent of the damage remains unclear. Israeli emergency services were dispatched to affected areas, and authorities issued urgent shelter-in-place warnings for civilians across the country.

This latest exchange of fire marks the 11th consecutive day of hostilities between Israel and Iran, with fears mounting of a wider regional conflict. The IDF confirmed that missile detection systems were activated and defense measures deployed as the missiles approached Israeli airspace. International observers are closely monitoring the rapidly deteriorating situation, as both U.S. and Israeli officials weigh their next steps. Meanwhile, calls for de-escalation are being made by global leaders, amid rising fears that the conflict could spiral into a broader war involving other regional powers.
