Four fishermen from Rameswaram were arrested and their trawler seized by the Sri Lankan Navy late on Monday, July 21, 2025.

According to police sources, a total of 88 trawlers had set out to sea from Rameswaram that day. One of them, belonging to M. Muniyasamy, was intercepted by a Sri Lankan naval patrol between Dhanushkodi and Thalaimannar for allegedly violating the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

The arrested fishermen have been identified as M. Thangaraj (40), T. Lingam (55), K. Selvam (50), and N. Irulandi — all residents of Rameswaram. They, along with their vessel, were taken to the Mannar Navy camp by the Sri Lankan authorities.
