Bilawal Bhutto opens the door to Hafiz Azhar extradition, stating Pakistan is willing to support India, provided there is credible proof and diplomatic transpar
In a statement that could mark a shift in regional diplomacy, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari indicated that his country may be open to delivering Hafiz Azhar, a wanted terrorist figure, to India under certain conditions.
Bilawal emphasized that Pakistan is eager to cooperate with India, provided there is strong legal backing and mutual respect in the extradition process. “If legal requirements are met and sufficient evidence is provided, I don’t foresee any obstacles,” he said during a press conference.
Hafiz Azhar, who is associated with terrorist activities and is allegedly included in India's most wanted list, has become a major center of debate on cross -border terrorism. While India has been constantly demanding action, Pakistan's reactions have often been cautious.
However, this time the tone of Bilawal appeared somewhat more creative. His appeal to cooperation and transparency indicates that Pakistan may change in efforts against terrorism amidst increasing global expectations from South Asian countries.
The stance of analysts is based on cautious optimism. Although such statements are not policy changes, they definitely indicate possible progress in India-Pakistan historically stressful relations. Diplomatic experts believe that if this dialogue is taken forward honestly, it can be an important step towards strengthening the regional security structure.
India has not officially responded yet, but public sentiment suggests that there is cautious hope that progress on justice and accountability might finally be possible at least on paper for now.
