According to the survivor and her brother, the incident happened around 11 pm on Thursday. The woman was alone at her father's house with her two children when Fazar Ali, the main accused, came knocking. Since she didn’t open the door, he broke it down, stripped her, beat her, and raped her — all over a ₹35,000 loan he had given to her family.

At the time of the attack, her parents and brothers were not at home. The incident was first reported by Bangladeshi newspaper Prothom Alo. A senior police officer investigating the case said, "The woman truly suffered brutal violence."

Hearig her screams, nearby locals rushed to the spot. Shockingly, some of them assaulted the woman and recorded videos instead of helping her. When they realized she had been raped, they turned on Fazar and beat him up, but he managed to escape.

Later, he was arrested from a hospital in Dhaka, where he had gone for treatment after the beating. Locals also claimed Fazar ran drug and gambling activities in the area and pretended to be part of the opposition BNP party, although he held no official post.

Four others who filmed the assault and posted it online were also arrested.
