RCB finally won the IPL title after 18 years, defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in a warm, watery(eyes) and engaging final.
After 18 long years of wait, heartbreaks and near misses, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) eventually created history by winning their very first ever IPL title. In an exciting and emotional final, RCB conquered Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs to become champions. The match was full of twists and stiff moments, but in the end, RCB held their nerve to seal the win and satisfy the dream of millions of fans, including their star player Virat Kohli.
opt for batting first, RCB makes sure to post a total of 190/9 in 20 overs. Though the score was slightly below par for the conditions in Ahmedabad, it was still ruthless. Virat Kohli top-scored with a stable 43 off 35 balls, anchoring the innings. He was well propped up by Rajat Patidar, Mayank Agarwal, and Jitesh Sharma, who chipped in with valuable runs. The shift, however, wasn’t without challenges as Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets each to keep RCB in check. Despite a few stumbles in the final stages, RCB showed composure and ensured they had something to defend.
Punjab Kings started their run after with an aggressive opening partnership between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, racing to 52/1 in the powerplay. However, RCB began to strike back. Josh Hazlewood dismissed Arya, thanks to a brilliant catch in the deep by Phil Salt. The momentum kept swinging as Krunal Pandya bowled a tight spell and claimed the crucial wicket of Josh Inglis. Romario Shepherd’s dismissal of PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer was a big blow to their chase. The most emotional moment of the night came when Bhuvneshwar Kumar turned the game in RCB’s favour with two quick wickets in the 17th over, removing Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis.
With 29 needed off the last over, Shashank Singh gave a courageous effort, crashing with 22 runs, but fell just short, as Punjab Kings finished at 184/7. Despite a weather forecast that showed a 66% chance of rain earlier in the day, conditions cleared up by the evening, allowing the match to proceed uninterrupted. This thrilling final marked the end of RCB’s long title deficit and gave their fans a truly emotional and remarkable victory.
