Former India head coach Rahul Dravid praised former Test captain Rohit Sharma after the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) honoured him by naming a stand at Wankhede Stadium after him. Calling it a fitting tribute, Dravid said it reflects Rohit's outstanding contributions to both Mumbai and Indian cricket.

In a video shared by Mumbai Indians on X (formerly Twitter), Dravid joked, “Hey Rohit, maybe you hit so many sixes into those stands that they had to name one after you.” He went on to say that while Rohit likely dreamt of playing great innings at Wankhede, he may not have imagined a stand named in his honour. “It’s a truly iconic stadium, and to have a stand there in your name is a testament to your achievements,” Dravid said.
He added that Rohit “truly deserves” the recognition and extended his heartfelt congratulations. Lightly joking, Dravid said, “Now that you have your own stand, I know who to call for tickets when I’m in Mumbai.”
The MCA also dedicated two other stands to veteran cricket administrator Sharad Pawar and former India captain Ajit Wadekar. In addition, the MCA Office Lounge was inaugurated in memory of the late Amol Kale, the association’s former president.
