India's narrow 6‑run victory over England in the fifth Test has added a valuable haul of points to their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 campaign. The triumph not only thrilled fans but also showcased the team’s resilience under pressure.

While Australia remains at the top with a flawless 3‑0 record and 100 percent points percentage (PCT), India’s win has lifted them to fourth in the standings even as England slipped to third after being handed a two‑point over‑rate penalty. India now sits with around 28 points from five matches and a PCT near 46 percent, closing in on England’s tally of 26 points and 43 percent PCT.

This match-winning effort was a perfect blend of grit, nerves of steel, and smart leadership. The team’s composure in a tight finish underlines their ongoing growth as contenders in the WTC cycle. India’s only defeat came earlier in the series, but the recent momentum gives hope they can still push for a top-two finish and a place in the 2027 final. That said, the standings remain fluid. Australia leads comfortably, Sri Lanka sits second with a solid PCT, followed by India and England in closely matched positions. Bangladesh, West Indies and others are still yet to make significant inroads into the race.

India’s latest WTC victory is more than just points it reflects character and persistence. As the cycle progresses, every result, every over‑rate penalty, and every player performance will count. For now, India’s margin may be narrow, but their resilience has reset the narrative, rekindling belief in their quest for Test supremacy.
