Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh nominated as PCA representative; eyes a potential administrative role in BCCI.
Harbhajan Singh, well known for his spin-bowling era in Team India, might be looking toward cricket administration. The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has named him as its representative for the upcoming BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM), taking place on September 28.
The AGM isn’t just a meeting it’s when big decisions happen. Among other things, key roles like President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary, Treasurer, and representatives for IPL governance are selected. If Harbhajan gets elected or appointed to one of those, it would mark his first major step into BCCI’s leadership after being an advisor in Punjab.
Over his playing career, Harbhajan earned respect and achievements more than 700 international wickets, playing in all formats, being part of India’s World Cup wins. That legacy brings him credibility in administrative circles too. PCA’s backing signals that his peers see potential in him for bigger governance responsibilities.
Still, there are procedural steps ahead: nominations need to be filed, declarations made about prior roles, and candidates can withdraw if needed. Elections will settle the final line-up of office bearers.
For cricket fans, administrators, and players, Harbhajan’s possible shift reminds us that former great players often move into roles off the field helping shape the future of the sport.
