Delhi Capitals are considering adjusting their batting order for the final three league matches of the IPL, with experienced batter KL Rahul expected to return as an opener for the team led by Axar Patel.

Currently positioned fifth on the points table with 13 points from 11 games, DC aims to strengthen their top order, and promoting Rahul is part of that plan. So far this season, Rahul has opened only once, batted at No. 3 twice, and spent the remaining seven matches at No. 4—a role assigned to him before the season began.

Though Rahul has performed reasonably well in the middle order, the management wants to bring stability to the opening slots by leveraging his experience during the powerplay.

Several changes have been forced due to Jake Fraser-McGurk’s inconsistent form and an injury to Faf du Plessis, but some consistency is expected in the upcoming matches against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings.

Delhi Capitals started the IPL 2025 season strongly but lost momentum mid-way, struggling to bounce back after a tough home defeat to Mumbai Indians.

With the playoffs race intensifying and seven teams still in contention, DC needs their batting lineup to fire while hoping reinforcements step up. As reported earlier by TimesofIndia.com, Mitchell Starc will not be returning this season, putting pressure on bowlers like T Natarajan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohit Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar to deliver.

DC will resume their campaign at home against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, followed by an away game versus Mumbai Indians, and conclude the league stage facing Punjab Kings in Jaipur.
