Tanzid, Nasum, Mustafizur deliver with bat and ball as Bangladesh stay alive for Super Four.
It was a tense night in Abu Dhabi as Bangladesh edged Afghanistan by just eight run, in a match many peoples thought they will lose, but at the end they manage to win.
Bangladesh, batting first, posted a total of 154 for 5, mainly because of explosive half-century from Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who smash 52 off only 31 balls. Saif Hassan also gave a solid support with a measured 30 from 28. But Afghan spinners kept pegging them back again and again. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad both taken wickets which made the chase even more tricky.
In reply, Afghanistan start with promise but slowly keep losing ground as Bangladesh bowlers become more confident. Nasum Ahmed was terrific with the new ball, finish with figure of 2 for 11, while Mustafizur Rahman cleanup the death overs with 3 for 28. Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain also play their parts, ensuring the pressure was never going off.
As the last over come closer, Afghanistan needed something special, but Bangladesh hold on tight. The fielding was sharp, and bowlers keep nerve. With this win, Bangladesh keep their hopes alive in Group B race for Super Four spot. The joy in Bangladesh camp was so much clear. They knows every match in Asia Cup matter now more then ever.
