Rajasthan Royals' teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Patna Airport on Friday. PM Modi shared photos from the encounter on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, writing, “At Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavours.”
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Meteoric Rise
Suryavanshi, only 14 years old, has taken the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) by storm with his performances for the Rajasthan Royals. In just seven matches, he has scored 252 runs, but it was his blistering century against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur that captured global attention. Displaying a level of maturity rare for his age, he smashed 101 runs off just 38 balls — his 35-ball century is now the second-fastest in IPL history and the fastest ever by a 14-year-old in men’s T20 cricket.
His landmark night saw him set multiple records. The knock ranks as the seventh-fastest T20 century ever, with the quickest still held by Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who scored a century in just 27 balls against Cyprus in 2024. Vaibhav also notched his half-century in just 17 balls, the fifth-fastest in league history, making him the youngest player to ever hit an IPL fifty.
Notably, it took Suryavanshi just three innings to achieve his first IPL ton, surpassing Punjab Kings’ Priyansh Arya and Paul Valthaty, who both required four innings to reach the same milestone, according to Wisden.com.
His meeting with the Prime Minister marks yet another significant moment in what is shaping up to be an extraordinary cricketing journey.
