The Telangana government has signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) with leading Japanese eco-town companies to set up an eco-town in Hyderabad, marking a major step in environmental collaboration. The initiative focuses on recycling, waste management, and sustainable development. These agreements were finalized during the ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation’s visit to Kitakyushu, Japan—a city known for its green transformation. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by officials, was warmly received by Kitakyushu’s mayor, Kazuhisa Takeuchi.
Revanth reaffirmed Telangana’s commitment to sustainable development, job creation, and environmental preservation, stating that sustainability is necessary. The Lois were signed with EX Research Institute, P9 LLC, Nippon Steel Engineering, New Chemical Trading, and Amita Holdings. Revanth also endorsed Kitakyushu’s proposal for a sister city agreement with Hyderabad.
Both parties explored ideas including a direct flight between the cities and setting up a Japanese language school in Hyderabad. A system for periodic reviews to ensure time-bound progress was discussed. The Telangana team toured the city’s river restoration and recycling facilities.
Mayor Takeuchi highlighted Kitakyushu’s transformation into an eco-friendly city and supported Telangana in environmental innovation. Minister Sridhar Babu invited Japanese investment, emphasizing Telangana’s infrastructure, skilled talent, and eco-focused growth strategy.
