UPSC CSE Mains 2025 registration starts for over 14,000 candidates. With the exam scheduled from August 22, applicants must complete the process online by June
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started the registration process for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Mains 2025 from June 16. A total of 14,161 candidates who qualified in the preliminary stage earlier this year are eligible to apply. The application must be submitted through the official website, upsc.gov.in, by June 25, 2025. This stage is a critical step toward securing top posts like IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS in the Indian administrative framework.
The Mains exam is scheduled to commence on August 22 and will span five days. General category candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹200. However, candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and all female candidates are exempted from the fee. The application process includes registration, filling out the detailed application form, uploading required documents, and making the fee payment, where applicable. Candidates are also advised to retain a copy of the submitted form for future reference.
This phase of the examination tests candidates through nine descriptive papers, covering subjects ranging from General Studies to optional papers and essays. It demands strong writing skills, conceptual clarity, and detailed understanding of current affairs and static topics. With the Mains exam playing a decisive role in final selection, aspirants are encouraged to intensify their preparation. UPSC has also urged candidates to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided in the official notification to avoid any discrepancies during the selection process.
