Tamil Nadu's CENTAC has excluded 12 candidates with dual nativity from the final NEET merit list to uphold admission integrity.
In a move to uphold the integrity of medical admissions, the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) of Puducherry has released the final NEET merit list for the 2025-26 academic session, excluding 12 candidates found to have dual nativity. These candidates had applied for government quota seats in both their respective states and in Puducherry, violating the admission norms that restrict such practices.
Dual citizenship clause is an important component in Puducherry's entry policy, aimed at ensuring fair access to medical education for local students. Despite the announcement by parents, these 12 student guidelines were found to be violated, resulting in removing them from the merit list. In addition, students who were allotted seats in JIPMER MBBS course were also excluded from the list.
This action makes the government's transparency and commitment to maintain fairness. By ensuring strict adherence to the admission rules, the objective of the authorities is to prevent the candidates from other states from taking possession of local seats and protect the interests of the residents of Puducherry.
The final merit list, which is now free from these discrepancies, presents a more accurate representation of qualified candidates. Along with extending the deadline for completion of admission by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), paramedical seat matrix for non-NEET courses is also being finalized, ensuring a well-organized and fair admission process for all possible students.
