Union minister Jitendra Singh confirms SSC students affected by exam disruptions will be allowed to reappear. Protest demands like refund of challenged fees wil
Union Minister Jitendra Singh has offered reassurance to thousands of SSC (Staff Selection Commission) exam takers impacted by the recent mismanaged Phase 13 exams. Speaking to NDTV, he confirmed that students who faced disruptions will be permitted to give the exam again. They will not miss out due to factors beyond their control.
The protests began after multiple test centres suffered system failures, software glitches, and poor logistical arrangements, leading to mass cancellations and long-distance allocations. Several educators, including the well-known “Neetu Ma’am,” joined the demonstrations at the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) headquarters to demand fair treatment for affected candidates.
In addition, Minister Singh addressed concerns over the Rs 100 challenge fee. He announced that if any student successfully contests an unfair question, their fee will be fully refunded. Results for the SSC CPO exam are expected within a week. Singh also indicated that discussions are ongoing about delays in railway exams, involving both the DoPT and Railway Ministry. The SSC Chairman, S Gopalakrishnan, acknowledged the examination body's mismanagement citing faulty hardware, distant allocation of centres, and logistical failures. While he ruled out full cancellation of the exams, he did confirm that re-tests will be organized for affected candidates. Authorities have also initiated action against the contracted vendor, Edquist Career Technologies, which handled the exams; penalties are expected for documented failures.
Government has responded to protest pressure with concrete relief measures affected students can reappear, challenge fees will be refunded if warranted, and exam authority missteps are being formally addressed.
