The NEET PG 2025 dispute has launched a debate about the transparency of the examination, disturbances and trusts on the students' system.
For thousands of young doctors of India, NEET PG is not just another exam, but the door of their future. Passing it means to get a seat in postgraduate courses like MD, MS or PG Diploma and go closer to your dream of becoming an expert. But in 2025, this life -changing examination has turned into a storm of confusion and resentment.
Held on August 3, 2025, across 301 cities and 1,052 centres, the exam saw nearly 2.42 lakh candidates appear. When results came out on August 19, followed by the answer key on August 29, students immediately noticed red flags. The answer key was released without the actual question paper, leaving many wondering: How can we verify our answers if we don’t even know the questions?
Candidates reported shocking discrepancies. Some said the marks shown in their results didn’t match what they had calculated. Others alleged that their attempted answers weren’t recorded properly during the online test, with selected options failing to update or lock. One doctor even claimed he attempted all 200 questions, but the system displayed only 194. For some, the difference in expected and actual scores was as wide as 150–200 marks.
Adding to the controversy, NBEMS initially announced that it would release the full question paper and response sheet. Hours later, it rolled back the decision saying only question IDs and answers would be provided. This reversal has only deepened mistrust.
Students argue that if NEET UG can provide OMR sheets for cross-verification, why can’t NEET PG do the same? Their demand is simple: transparency.
Now, the matter rests with the Supreme Court, which has asked NBEMS to submit all documents. For candidates, the verdict isn’t just about marks it’s about restoring faith in the very system that shapes their careers.
