This year’s NEET‑PG exam set a new benchmark it was the largest single‑shift computer-based exam ever in India, with over 2,42,000 candidates appearing on August 3, 2025 across 301 cities. Candidates sat in 1,052 test centres nationwide, making it a massive logistical operation.

Organised by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), this single‑shift exam required meticulous planning. Over 2,200 faculty members from medical colleges and accredited hospitals supervised testing; state chief secretaries and police ensured law and order at each location. Signals were jammed, 300 cyber commandos deployed, and live CCTV monitoring was conducted continuously by NBEMS personnel to maintain exam integrity.

For many medical aspirants motivated by years of study this was the culmination of long days. The scale alone made it memorable: candidates reported that while the exam felt moderately tough, question distribution was uniform and largely within the expected syllabus. Some noted a focus on TB and HIV-related topics. One student commented, “Nothing was out of the syllabus… overall happy with my performance”.

NBEMS described this as a landmark operation: it’s not just the volume, but the speed and security measures that made it the largest of its kind in India’s NEET‑PG history. With all candidates writing simultaneously in the same slot, scalability and coordination were key. The success of the event underscores India’s evolving exam administration capabilities. Amid rising competition for medical seats, managing the largest NEET‑PG exam smoothly sends a strong signal about preparedness. As results are awaited, thousands hope their journey to MD, MS or PG diploma programs has begun on a high note.
