HPBOSE will recheck Class 12 English exam papers after a human error led to incorrect marking. Revised results will be issued, with only increased marks, offici
The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) will re-evaluate Class 12 English exam papers using the correct answer keys after a “human error” led to discrepancies in the marking process, officials announced on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. The original exam, held on March 8, 2025, had been rescheduled to March 29 after staff at the Government Senior Secondary School in Chowari, Chamba district, mistakenly opened the Class 12 question paper instead of the Class 10 paper on March 7.
Following the release of the Class 12 board results on Saturday, May 17, numerous students raised concerns about unexpectedly low marks in English. The issue was flagged by the Himachal Pradesh Government Teachers Union (HPGTU) and private school associations, prompting Education Minister Rohit Thakur to direct the board to investigate.
An internal inquiry revealed that incorrect answer keys were uploaded for the rescheduled exam, leading to the marking errors, HPBOSE secretary Vishal Sharma confirmed. Acknowledging the mistake, the board announced that affected students' answer sheets will be rechecked, and any revised results will only reflect increased scores—no marks will be deducted. The updated results will be released soon.
