Delhi University (DU) will offer a Master of Arts (MA) in Hindi Journalism starting from the 2025–26 academic session, following approval from the Standing Committee on Academic Matters (SCOAM). This new postgraduate programme, proposed under the university’s Hindi department and the Faculty of Arts, aligns with the Postgraduate Curriculum Framework (PGCF). The final implementation is pending approval from DU's Academic Council. This development marks a significant move toward promoting journalism education in regional languages.

The decision came during a committee meeting held on Friday, where members also discussed syllabi revisions for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. According to committee member Ram Kishore Yadav, the Hindi Journalism programme will be launched first, while a similar master’s course in English Journalism is expected to begin in the 2026–27 academic year under the English department. These additions reflect DU’s broader efforts to diversify academic offerings and respond to evolving industry needs, especially in media and communication fields.

In addition to approving the journalism programme, SCOAM also reviewed syllabi for the seventh and eighth semesters of several undergraduate courses under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF). Disciplines such as Education, Hindustani Music, and Geography had their fourth-year syllabi approved. Postgraduate curricula from departments like Philosophy, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Mathematics were also evaluated. The committee had previously met on May 2, 6, and 8 to finalise many of these syllabi, most of which were accepted with minimal changes. These curriculum updates are part of DU’s ongoing shift to a four-year undergraduate structure and revamped postgraduate model, aiming to ensure academic coherence and relevance across disciplines.
