Delhi Introduces 'Kaushal Bodh' Pre-Vocational Program for Classes 6-8 from 2025-26

The Delhi Directorate of Education has announced the launch of a pre-vocational education program called 'Kaushal Bodh' for government school students in classes 6 to 8 starting from the 2025-26 academic year, in accordance with the National Education Policy.

The program will begin with Class 6 students and gradually expand to Classes 7 and 8 in the following years. It aims to provide students with practical life skills and vocational knowledge to better prepare them for real-world challenges.

Aligned with the 2023 National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), the curriculum is divided into three main areas: Work with Life Forms, Work with Machines and Materials, and Work in Human Services. Each student will complete three projects annually, one from each category.

'Kaushal Bodh' emphasizes experiential learning through activities such as organic farming, pottery, carpentry, cooking with millets, embroidery, and basic electrical work. Teachers will help students perform tasks safely, encourage teamwork, and connect lessons to practical applications.

Assessment will include written exams, oral presentations, activity books, portfolios, and teacher evaluations, with a total of 110 hours dedicated to the program each year. School principals will be responsible for overseeing project implementation, supporting teacher training, and integrating vocational education into daily school activities. Regular teachers will guide students, facilitate assessments, and help relate classroom learning to real-life scenarios.

Additionally, the Education Department plans to hold 'Kaushal Melas' where students can display their projects and participate in supervised demonstrations. This initiative aims to strengthen problem-solving skills, teamwork, and provide a foundation for future vocational opportunities.
