The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in collaboration with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), has launched the National Automobile Olympiad (NAO) 2025 for students of Classes 6 to 12. The initiative aims to connect classroom learning with practical knowledge in automotive safety, sustainability, and smart mobility. Registration is open until July 31, 2025, and participation is free of cost for both schools and students. The Olympiad will be conducted in both English and Hindi, ensuring inclusivity and wider reach across CBSE-affiliated schools nationwide.

NAO 2025 will follow a three-tier competition format divided into groups: Classes 6–8 (Group 1), Classes 9–10 (Group 2), and Classes 11–12 (Group 3). The regional rounds are scheduled between October and November, while the national-level finals will take place in December 2025. The Olympiad will include written tests, hands-on demonstrations, and problem-solving tasks based on real-world automotive challenges. The goal is to introduce students to emerging domains such as mechatronics, robotics, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and clean mobility, reflecting the evolving demands of India’s growing automobile sector.

According to ASDC, the Olympiad supports India’s need for skilled professionals in the automotive field, a sector that contributes nearly 7.5% to the nation’s GDP. ASDC President FR Singhvi emphasized that the 2025 theme, “Safety, Sustainability, and Smart Mobility,” represents the future direction of the industry. Vice President Vinkesh Gulati added that the format has been designed for maximum accessibility. Supported by industry bodies like SIAM, ACMA, and FADA, this Olympiad presents an opportunity to inspire the next generation of automotive innovators.
