Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, with many leaks hinting at major design changes—especially for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has downplayed these expectations. According to his latest Power On newsletter, the Pro models will largely resemble their iPhone 16 counterparts, with no dual-tone design or dramatic visual overhaul. The most notable change will be to the rear camera layout, which may adopt a horizontal bar, but in the same color as the phone’s body. Gurman suggests a bold redesign might only arrive with the iPhone 19 in 2027, coinciding with the iPhone’s 20th anniversary.
While design changes are minimal, the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to feature significant camera upgrades. A 48MP telephoto lens with 85mm focal length could replace the 12MP 120mm lens, offering up to 3.5x optical zoom and 7x lossless digital zoom. The front-facing camera may double to 24MP. Performance gains are expected with the new A19 Pro chip built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm (N3P) process.
