Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Bakrid, will be celebrated across India on June 7, 2025, with special prayers scheduled in the early hours. In Delhi-NCR, Eid prayers will begin between 6:10 AM to 6:20 AM—approximately 15–20 minutes after sunrise—allowing worshippers to complete their Fajr prayers beforehand. Prominent mosques such as Fatehpuri Masjid, Nayi Madina Masjid, and Haqqi Masjid have begun preparations and will confirm exact timings locally.
The festival falls on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. It honors the faith and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was ready to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. To mark this, Muslims offer the sacrifice of animals like goats, sheep, cows, or camels, distributing the meat among the needy. The day emphasizes compassion, charity, and unity.
Besides spiritual observance, Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated with joy. People wear new clothes, decorate homes, prepare traditional dishes, and greet each other with "Eid Mubarak." In cities like Lucknow, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, prayers follow a similar post-sunrise schedule, with minor local variations. Authorities have arranged crowd management to ensure peaceful celebrations as communities come together in faith and festivity.
