Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has committed to perform a five -year term amidst speculation of leadership change, while Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar denied any differences and strengthened the stability of the government by resolving unity and support.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar also clarified that he has never demanded to replace Siddaramaiah and he does not see any reason for any differences. He said, "What option do I have? I have to stand with them and support them," which makes her unwavering support towards the current leadership clear. At the same time, he warned that whatever members in the party will make public statement about the change of leadership, they will have to bear the consequences.
This declaration came amidst increasing internal chatter within the Congress party, with some MLAs suggesting Shivakumar could succeed Siddaramaiah in a couple of months, pointing to an alleged rotational chief ministership arrangement following the 2023 elections. However, Congress high command has stepped in to calm the unrest, sending party general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala to Bengaluru to ensure unity and gauge internal feedback.
Today’s unified stance from both leaders visibly standing together and reinforcing their partnership underscores the Congress government’s determination to remain stable and cohesive. Despite whispers of power-sharing agreements or reshuffles, both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have quelled speculation, portraying a strong, collaborative front focused on governance.
