Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday briefed leaders of various political parties in Parliament on Operation Sindoor, India’s ongoing military offensive targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). While confirming that at least 100 terrorists were eliminated in the strikes, Singh clarified that detailed disclosures about the operation could not be shared at this stage due to its ongoing nature.
Chairing the all-party meeting, Singh emphasized that India does not seek to escalate tensions, but warned that any provocation from Pakistan would be met with a firm response. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju noted that all political parties present extended their support to the government, putting national interest above political differences.
“He (Singh) outlined the operation and the government’s stance. Leaders responded constructively and with maturity,” said Rijiju, adding that the meeting reflected a shared commitment to nation-building rather than political gains.
Congress President and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge, however, expressed disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence. Rahul Gandhi, attending as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, reiterated Congress’s support but said it would have been better had the government accepted their request for a special Parliament session.
