Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet the family of Shubham Dwivedi, one of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, at Chakeri airport in Kanpur on Friday (May 30, 2025), an official confirmed.

Shubham Dwivedi, a 31-year-old businessman, was among the 26 people killed in the April 22 attack in Pahalgam. “The Prime Minister will meet Shubham’s wife, Ashanya, and his parents, Sanjay and Seema Dwivedi, shortly after his special flight lands,” said Kanpur District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh to PTI. He added that the family had been informed of the PMO’s decision.

Shubham's wife also told PTI that senior state government officials had notified them about the meeting.

Last week, Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi had written to the Prime Minister’s Office, urging PM Modi to meet the bereaved family. In his letter, Awasthi mentioned the family’s appreciation for “Operation Sindoor,” which they believe brought solace to Shubham’s soul, and said they wished to personally thank the Prime Minister.

Launched on May 7, Operation Sindoor was India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack, with all retaliatory actions against Pakistani aggression conducted under this initiative.

Shubham, who had recently married on February 12, was visiting Pahalgam with his wife and relatives when gunmen opened fire on tourists, leading to his tragic death.
