Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth consecutive night, this time extending the breaches to the Akhnoor sector in Jammu district, a government official reported on Tuesday.
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Pakistan has continued its unprovoked firing along the LoC.
"On the night of April 28-29, Pakistani troops opened fire with small arms in areas across from Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector," said a defence spokesperson.
He noted that the Indian Army responded in a controlled and effective manner to the provocations.
No casualties have been reported so far.
What began as unprovoked firing in north Kashmir's Kupwara and Baramulla districts gradually expanded to include the Poonch sector, and has now reached Akhnoor, signaling a widening pattern of ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
