On the morning of Saturday, July 26, 2025, several districts in Maharashtra — including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Pune, and Satara — experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD also forecasted continued heavy to very heavy showers across Mumbai and its suburbs throughout the day.
The department stated that intense rainfall, along with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, is likely to persist in the island city and surrounding suburbs until the morning of Sunday, July 27. Based on 24-hour rainfall data collected between 8 a.m. on July 25 and 8 a.m. on July 26, Mumbai recorded 29.51 mm of rain.
During this period, the eastern suburbs registered 89.44 mm of rainfall, while the western suburbs received 81.42 mm. In contrast, the island city experienced lighter rain at 29.51 mm.
On Friday, July 25, an orange alert was issued for Mumbai, which saw intermittent heavy spells and occasional sunshine. For Palghar, the alert was upgraded from orange to red, with the IMD predicting extremely heavy rainfall in some areas.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that a high tide of 4.67 metres is expected at 1:20 p.m., followed by a low tide of 1.26 metres at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday. Heavy rain coinciding with high tide often leads to waterlogging in low-lying parts of the city.
