An all-party Indian delegation led by Shashi Tharoor visits Panama to highlight India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and explain the response to the Pahal
An all-party Parliamentary delegation headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is set to visit Panama starting Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to deliver India’s firm stance on zero tolerance for terrorism in any form. The delegation is arriving from Guyana and will spend three days in Panama, engaging with the country’s leadership, media, strategic community, Indian diaspora, and friends of India. According to the Embassy of India in Panama, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, the visit aims to reinforce India’s commitment to unity, peace, and its collective determination to combat terrorism.
The delegation includes Sarfaraz Ahmad (JMM), Gants Harish Madhur Balayogi (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Tejasvi Surya (BJP), and India’s former ambassador to the U.S., Taranjit Sandhu.
This visit is part of a broader diplomatic effort involving seven multi-party delegations travelling to 33 global capitals to brief the international community about Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism and India’s response, especially after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
In response to that attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, conducting targeted strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan retaliated by targeting Indian military facilities on May 8, 9, and 10, prompting strong countermeasures from India. The military exchanges ceased after both sides' Directors General of Military Operations agreed to halt actions during talks on May 10.
